Luella Subbert

Luella Lucille Subbert, age 85, of Sac City, Iowa, passed away Friday, August 20, 2004, at the Loring Care Center, Sac City.

Luella was born January 17, 1919, in Carroll, Iowa, the daughter of Alfred Carl and Emma Sophia Louise (Berns) Subbert. She lived in the Lidderdale area and attended country school.

On February 27, 1938, Luella was united in marriage to Herman C. Subbert at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lidderdale. They were blessed with seven children: Ronald, Patricia, Gale, Kenneth, James, Barbara, and Bruce. They lived in the Lidderdale area, moved to Linn Grove in January of 1954, and to Sac City in 1959. Luella moved to Early in 1973 after Herman passed away. She was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Early.

Luella worked at Park View Care Center for many years in housekeeping and laundry department. She also worked at Sanders Hardware in Early until retiring in 1998.

Her family was always very important to her. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved embroidering and crocheting special crafts and sharing her gifts with her family. She enjoyed fishing, playing bingo, and tending to her vegetable and flower gardens. In later years she enjoyed going to Sloan and trying her luck.

Survivors include her children: Ronald (Karrol) Subbert of Pella, IA, Patricia (Donald) Williams of Salina, KS, Gale (Carol) Subbert of Ogallala, NE, Kenneth (Aesuk) Subbert of Swisher, IA, James (Sharon) Subbert of Orlando, FL, Barbara (Roger) Feilmeier of Early, IA, Bruce (Karen) Subbert of Stanton, IA; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister Dorothy Heuton of Lake City, IA; and extended family members and friends.

Luella was preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Emma Subbert; step-mother Ella Subbert; husband Herman, September 16, 1973, and a sister Martina Peters.

Funeral services will be held Monday, 11:00 am, at Faith Lutheran Church in Early, with Reverend Charles Bettin officiating. Interment will be at 1:30 pm, at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Lidderdale, IA, under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 4:00-8:00 pm, Sunday, August 22, at Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City.
