Louise H. Mandernach

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 8, 2004, at 2:00 pm, at the United Methodist Church in Odebolt, with Pastor Kathy Spracklin officiating. Kathie & Ray Willhoite will sing a duet accompanied by Corrine Down. Marcia and Howard Hustedt and Marjorie Mohr will take care of the flower arrangements. Honorary pallbearers include: Glenn Faulkner, Lee Brucker, Curt Branson, and Mark Branson. The casketbearers will be the following: Jay Bettin, Tal Bettin, Dylan Bettin, Tyson Bettin, Austin Bettin, and Justin Bettin. Burial will be at the Odebolt Cemetery with the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 pm, Thursday, October 7th at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Odebolt.

Louise H. (Brucker) Mandernach, daughter of Julius Adam and Vernal S. (Baker) Brucker passed from this life at age 90, on Saturday, October 2, 2004. She was born October 29, 1913, north of Arthur, Iowa. At the age of one year, she moved south of Arthur on one of the Brucker farms, where she grew up and graduated from Arthur High School in 1929. Louise married Howard Mandernach on December 6, 1934. They were married 62 years when he passed away, on January 27, 1998. They were the parents of Audrey, Virginia, and LuAnne. They farmed north of Odebolt until they retired in 1966 and moved into Odebolt.

Louise was baptized in the Methodist Church. She taught Sunday School and Bible School several years. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and Rachel Circle, Chairperson of Trustees, member of Four Women Church Kitchen planning committee, served on the Odebolt Fair Board, Charter member of the Odebolt Women’s Club, and worked on the centennial book of 1977.

Louise loved all crafts: knitting, quilting, china painting, macramé, crocheting, sewing and baby-sitting her grandchildren and great grandchildren, her pride and joy.
Those preceding her in death besides her parents, were her husband, Howard, of 62 years; daughter, LuAnne; infant grandson Chad; brothers, Julius and Everett Brucker and sisters, Elna Hoaglund, Willys Perkins, Vernette Worth, Pearl Higgins, and Dorothy Hoaglund.

Those remaining to mourn are her two daughters: Audrey Bettin and her husband David of Odebolt, IA, and Virginia Branson and her husband Charles of Fairfield, CA; three grandchildren: Jay Bettin of Carroll, IA, Tal Bettin and wife Tracey of Odebolt, IA, and Dena Faulkner and husband Glenn of Selah, WA; four step-grandchildren: Bobbette Lucido, Mark Branson, Curt and wife Genie Branson, and Greg Branson; eight great-grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; sister, Hazel Raasch of Sioux City; two sisters-in-law: Florence Herrig and Becky Mandernach both of Odebolt; brother-in-law, Cleo Perkins of Holstein; and many nieces and nephews.
