Lucille Bruner Lucille Bruner, age 84, of Sac City formerly of Lake View, Iowa, passed away November 17, 2004, at the Loring Hospital in Sac City, Iowa. Lucille Genieve Baker was born May 6, 1920, in Jolley, Iowa the daughter of Anthony and Clara (Stumpf) Baker. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pomeroy, Iowa. Lucille attended Jolley schools, graduating from Jolley High School with the Class of 1937. On August 31, 1937, Lucille was united in marriage to Lawrence D. Bruner at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pomeroy. The family made their home in Rockwell City until 1947 when they moved to Lake View (one day after their 10th Anniversary) to open a Gambles Hardware Store. During WWII while Lawrence was in the Navy, Lucille worked in the accounting department of the Naval dry docks. Lucille was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sac City. She devoted herself to many church responsibilities all through her life. She was active in CCW, served as President of St. Francis Altar Society in Rockwell City and St. Joseph’s Guild in Wall Lake, Treasurer, Vice President and President of Central Deanery CCW, and co-ordinator for St. Joseph’s Parish. Lucille loved to play bridge and was an active member in two card clubs. She and Lawrence spent 15 winters in Mesa, Arizona where they enjoyed entertaining many family members. Survivors included her three children: James D. Bruner and his wife Sandy of Scottsdale, AZ, Jane Bateman of Lawrence, KS, and Jill Dobrick and her husband Bob of Shoreview, MN; her grandchildren: David (Kathleen) Bruner of Scottsdale, AZ, Chris Bruner of Phoenix, AZ, Tim Bateman of Mission, KS, Mike Bateman of Lawrence, KS, Sarah Dobrick and Tom Dobrick both of Shoreview, MN: and triplet great-grandchildren: Ashley, Brian and Lauren Bruner. Other survivors include her three sisters: Loreen Hayler of Rockwell City: Nova (Bob) Angier of Phoenix, AZ, and Irma Murphy of Scottsdale, AZ, and two brothers: Edward (Pauline) Baker of Humboldt, IA, and Roger Baker of Mesa, AZ. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lawrence on January 20, 1998; infant son Gene: and her brother Harold Baker. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 20th, 10:30 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sac City with Father Larry McCarty officiating. Charles Schulte will accompany Steve Goecke with special music. Honorary pallbearers include the following: Carl Sproul, Dr. Mark Durst, Dr. W. J. Nichols, Robert Bowker, Jim Scott, Steve Kettering, and Warren Bohnenkamp. Burial will be at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Rockwell City at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, November 20th, under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Lake View, Friday, November 19th, from 4:00-8:00 pm, with a vigil service at 7:30. |
