Helen E. Mulligan

Funeral services for Helen Mulligan will be held Thursday, December 2, 2004, 10:30 a.m., at Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake with Reverend Roger Carlisle officiating. Special music will be provided by the quartet consisting of the following: Carol Nuetzman, Mary Beth Erickson, Steve Nuetzman, and Jack Stickrod along with congregational singing. Jan Potthoff will play the keyboard and Carol Nuetzman will be the organist. Audrey Lamaak, Ruth Gerdes and Elsie Ogren will take care of the flower arrangements. Pallbearers will be the following: Scott Richardson, Ron Richardson, Kent Richardson, Duane Rohde, Kenneth Rohde, and Lester Rohde. Burial will be at the Wall Lake Cemetery under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 1st, 4:00 – 8:00 pm, at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Wall Lake.

Helen E. Mulligan, age 88, of Wall Lake, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2004, at Twilight Acres Nursing Home in Wall Lake. Helen E. Richardson was born on April 5, 1916, in Levy Township, Sac County, the daughter of Frank and Ida (Rohde) Richardson. She was baptized and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake where she remained a life long member. She attended Levy #7, Country School and graduated from Wall Lake High School in 1935.

Helen was united in marriage to Sheridan Mulligan in 1937. Two children were born to this union: Robert and Sharon. She was a loving wife and mother always caring for others. After the death of her husband in 1955, Helen moved into Wall Lake to be with her parents. During this time she worked for Neppl Produce Company and later for Wall Lake Popcorn Company. She later cared for her elderly parents until their death.

She belonged to the Happy Herring Hand Card Club and enjoyed spending winters with her aunt Mae Richardson in Arizona.

Survivors include her brother, Roy Richardson of Maple Plain, MN, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Sheridan in 1955; son Robert; daughter Sharon; brother Elmer Richardson, and an infant sister.
