Gretha Metcalf

Gretha Edith Metcalf, age 87, of Wall Lake, Iowa passed away Saturday, March 27, 2004, at Twilight Acres Nursing Home in Wall Lake.

Gretha was born December 5, 1916, to Martin and Bretha (Bray) Hansen at Battle Creek, Iowa.

Gretha was married to Lester Metcalf and they lived in Carnarvon, Iowa. Lester died in 1977 and Gretha stayed in Carnarvon for nine years then moved to Missouri Valley where she lived for 25 years until she injured her back. She then moved to Twilight Acres Nursing Home in Wall Lake to be closer to her family.

Gretha is survived by her son Russell Neff of Grant City, MO; four daughters: Mary (Jay) Krusentjerna of Wall Lake, IA, Margaret Davis of Carroll, IA, Elizabeth (Gary) Nicholson of New Hampshire, & Judy (Vern) Chittenden of Snyder, NE; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three brothers: Donald Hansen of Sioux City, IA, Elmer Hansen of Nebraska, and Leo Hansen of Minnesota; and a sister Dorothy Langschwager of Correctionville, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lester in 1977; six brothers; two sisters; two grandsons: Adam Rake and Billy Bruns.
