Gertrude Hardy

Gertrude “Trudie” Hardy, age 81, of Odebolt, Iowa, passed away on Monday, July 19, 2004, at her home in Odebolt. Trudie was born on December 13, 1922, in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of George and Adele (Wildt) Schroeder. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith, attended the Milwaukee schools, and graduated in 1940.

In 1953 Trudie was married to Howard Carter in Milwaukee. He passed away in 1963. Trudie was united in marriage in 1964 to Larry Hardy in Reno, Nevada. He passed away in 1977.

Trudie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed spending lots of time with her children and grandchildren. She loved to travel, play cards, do crossword puzzles, sew, and spend quiet time reading a good book. She worked as a shipping and receiving clerk in Kintec, Inc, Chatsworth, CA, until her retirement in 1990. She moved to Odebolt to be closer to her daughter in 1993.

Survivors include her son, Mark Carter of Sebastopol, CA; her daughter, Barbara Reinhart and husband Kent of Odebolt, IA, her three grandchildren: Shannon Reinhart of Tucson, AZ, Matthew Reinhart of Iowa City, IA, and Crystal Reinhart of Ida Grove, IA; her two brothers: Richard Price and wife Darlene of Milwaukee, WI, Ed Price and wife Marcia of New Berlin, WI; a sister, Alice Dunn and husband John of Adams, WI, and extended family members.

Trudie was preceded in death by her mother and father; two brothers: Gordon and Martin; a sister Ruth; her first husband Howard Carter, and second husband Larry Hardy.

Memorial services will be held at a later date with Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Odebolt in charge of arrangements.
