Edna Schultz

Edna Mae Schultz, age 80, passed away Monday, September 13, 2004, at Maple Heights Nursing Home, Mapleton, Iowa.

Edna Mae Goslar was born on January 16, 1924, to Otto and Clara (Bolduan) Goslar at Ute, Iowa. She attended grade school at St. John’s Lutheran School in Charter Oak, Iowa, and received her high school education at Charter Oak High School graduating in 1942. She then pursued her college education at NBT in Sioux City, Iowa, to obtain an Associate of Business Degree graduating in 1944.

On June 30, 1943, Edna was united in marriage to Charles Schultz in Schuyler, Nebraska. To this union nine children were born. Charlie and Edna spent their first years of married life on a farm outside of Ute. After leaving the farm and moving into Ute, Edna worked at Elias Grocery Store and also the Ute Independent Newspaper.

In 1971, Charlie’s job took them to Lake View, Iowa. While in Lake View, Edna worked at the Lake View Resort and also at McCullough Law Firm. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church.

Edna was an avid gardener and was well known for her green thumb with flowers and strawberries. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and delighted in following their activities. She cherished the times she got to spend with them and they the time spent with her.

Edna is survived by eight children: Barbara Hanson of Ute, IA; Patricia Brummer of Guthrie Center, IA; Sandra Goebel and her husband Gerald of Zimmerman, MN; Curtis Schultz of State Center, IA; Ross Schultz of Denison, IA; Kimberly Blessington of Sac City, IA; Kevin Schultz and his wife Mary Ann of Denison, IA; and Laureen Snyder of Lake View; twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by sisters: Helen Torgerson of Soldier, IA; Norma Wallace and husband Jim of Lake View; and Geraldine Goslar of Enfield, NH; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Charlie in 1985; son Jon at birth; son-in-law Glen Hanson; grandson Darin Hanson; and two brothers: Eldon and Wilfred Goslar.

Funeral services for Edna will be held Thursday, September 16th, 11:00 am, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lake View with Reverend James Travis, officiating, and Jim Stock, organist. Edna’s grandchildren will be the pallbearers and Jan Stock and Mollie Scott will take care of the flower arrangements. Burial will be at St. Clair Cemetery, in Ute, Iowa, at 2:00 pm under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 pm, Wednesday September 15th, at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Lake View.
