Ella Ort

Ella Maxine Ort, age 81, of Nemaha, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2004, at the Loring Care Center in Sac City. Ella was born on July 1, 1923, in Sac County, the daughter of Leslie and Della (Stout) Pangle. She lived near Sac City until her marriage and attended country school.

On November 23, 1947, Ella was united in marriage to Kenneth L. Ort in Nemaha, Iowa. To this union four children were born: Hugh, Rosemary, Lorence, and Paul. They made their home in Nemaha where Ella was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Ella was a loving wife and mother. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and crocheting, and was very active in their bee and honey business. She loved having her grandchildren and step grandchildren come visit.

She is survived by her children: Hugh Ort of Storm Lake; Rosemary Bruns and her husband Fred of Sac City; Lorence Ort and his wife Judy of Auburn; and Paul Ort and his wife Brenda of Storm Lake; her stepson Virgil Ort of Otho, IA; seven grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and extended family members.

Ella was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth on December 22, 1996, a brother in infancy, and great-grandson Maxwell Ort.

Funeral services for Ella will be held Tuesday, September 28th, 10:30 a.m., at the United Methodist Church in Nemaha with Reverend Karl Schiltz officiating. Pallbearers will be the Nemaha Firemen. Burial will be at the Nemaha Cemetery under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, at the church.
