Esther Hunziker
Visitation will begin from 4:00-8:00 pm, Sunday, October 24th, at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City. Esther Enola Hunziker, age 87, of Sac City, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2004, at Park View Care Center in Sac City. Esther Enola Louise Jons, was born on September 17, 1917, at Carroll, Iowa, to Charles and Louise (Bauerle) Jons. She was baptized into Christian faith in infancy and confirmed in 1930 by Reverend A. J. Mueller at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Carroll. Esther graduated from Carroll High School in 1934. She was employed at retail stores in Carroll until her marriage to Arthur Hunziker, November 30, 1939, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Carroll. Esther was a loving wife, helpmate in farming, homemaker, and mother of five children: Jon, Carol, Bethany, Janet, and Jonell. She enjoyed her family and home, handwork, travel and volunteerism. Esther was a member of St. Peter’s Aid, L.W.M.L, and neighborhood club. She was a cheerful visitor on Tel-A-care to her shut-in friends, and a weekly volunteer at Park View Care Center. Survivors include a son, Dr. Jon and his wife Jill Hunziker of Neoponist, NY; four daughters: Carol and husband Robert Bernhard of Naperville, IL; Bethany and husband Richard Van Gorp of Arvada, CO; Janet Hunziker and husband Paul Muroyama of Bethesda, MD; and Jonell and husband Robert McGhin of Albuquerque, NM; seven grandchildren: Kristine (Robert) Thennes and Blaine Hyde, Brent and Kendra Van Gorp, Andrew and Alexander Muroyama, and Thomas McGhin; brother Merlin (Ida) Jons of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews. Esther was preceded in death by her parents; husband Arthur in 1996; two sisters: Eleanor Oetjen and Lela Mandernach; three brothers: Herbert, LaVerne, and Victor Jons; and a grandson Daniel McGhin. |
