Derek Geibe

Funeral services for Derek Geibe will be held Tuesday, December 28th, 2:00 pm, at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Lake View with Reverend Donald Gibson officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be the following: Matt Finley, Jerry Geibe, Ron Siplon, Jeff Rake, Ken Mohrhauser, Travis Wittenhagen, Nate Bryant, and Matt Thompson. Final resting place is in the families care. Visitation is Monday, December 27th, 4:00 – 8:00 pm at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Lake View.

Derek “Dee” James Geibe, age 20, of Lake View, Iowa, passed away on December 21, 2004, from a car accident.

Derek, better known as Big “D”, or “Derek Wayne”, was born on June 19, 1984, the son of Doug Geibe and Brenda Whittenhagen. While growing up, he lived in several states which included: Ohio, Georgia, Colorado, Maine, South Dakota, and Iowa. He received his G.E.D. from Charleston, Maine in 2002.

Derek loved to hang out with his friends, listening to and writing rap music, trucking with his dad, and being with his family. For the past year he had worked for McDermott’s Carnival and enjoyed traveling.

Survivors include his father, Doug Geibe and Brenda Rardin of Wall Lake, his mother Brenda Dailey of Rockport, Maine; brother Kyle Geibe; step-brothers: Dusty Rardin and Chris Rardin of Lake View; step-sisters: Felisha Rardin of Lake View, Ashlee and BreAnna Rardin of Wall Lake; grandparents: Bonnie Geibe of Lake View; Kitty and Larry Whittenhagen of Mitchell, SD and Albert and Pauline Rardin of Lake View. He will be missed by his special friend Chelsea Reis of Fort Dodge, IA; and many friends.

Derek was preceded in death by his grandfather, Dutch (Harvey) Geibe and uncle Rob Geibe.
