Christine Wirtjers

Funeral services for Christine Wirtjers of Sac City will be held Monday, January 3rd, 10:00 a.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sac City with Reverend Charles Bettin officiating, and Michele Suggitt organist. Pallbearers include the following: Phil Howes, Zeb Howes, Michael Howes, and Derrell Lynch. Burial will be at the Cedar Cemetery, rural Sac City, under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.

Visitation is Sunday, after 5:00 pm at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City.
Christine Ann Wirtjers, age 90, of Sac City, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2004, at Twilight Acres Nursing Home in Wall Lake.

Christine Ann Adams was born July 20, 1914, in Denison, Iowa, the daughter of Herman Louis and Martha (Steensen) Adams. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church and attended Zion Lutheran school through the eighth grade, graduating from Denison High School in 1932. In October of 1933 she moved to Sac City and lived there until her death.

On January 7, 1939, Christine was united in marriage to Fred “Buster” Wirtjers. To this union was born one son, John Louis Wirtjers. Fred passed away March 3, 1974.

Survivors include her son John Wirtjers and his wife Pat; four grandsons: John Wirtjers, Jr., Jody Wirtjers, Jimmy Wirtjers, and Jeff Wirtjers; granddaughters: Angie Kreft and husband Jason, and Beth Wirtjers; 11 great-grandchildren: Brandi, Buster, Blake, Jesse, Breanna, Brittney, and Stephanie Wirtjers, and Whitney, Wendy, Wylee, and Wyatt Kreft; and extended family members.

Christine was preceded in death by her parents; husband Fred; one brother; sister Malinda Level, and an infant granddaughter.
