Curtis Brotherson
On December 4, 1971, Curt was united in marriage to Susanne Popp at Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia. That union was blessed with two sons: Ryan and Matthew. Curt farmed in Jackson Township, Crawford County his entire life. He was recently employed as a rural meter reader for Western Iowa Power Coop of Denison. Curt served in the Iowa National Guard from 1966-1972. He was a member of the Crawford County Pork Producers and Cattlemen’s Association. He has been a Crawford County Soil Commissioner from 1991 to the present. Curt was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Wall Lake, IA, and served as trustee and usher. Curt dearly loved his family and farming, especially planting the crops. In 1999 he obtained his private pilot’s license and loved to go flying in his spare time. Other hobbies included reading and playing cards. On April 27, 2004, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, our Lord Jesus Christ called Curt eternally home to himself. He was 57 years, 5 months, and 26 days old. He was preceded in death by his father, Clayton Brotherson, and a brother in infancy. Curt is survived by his wife Susanne of Breda, IA; two sons: Ryan and his wife Mary Beth of Olathe, KS, and Matthew of Arcadia, IA; one grandchild, Carolyn Brotherson of Olathe, KS; his mother, Edna Brotherson of Wall Lake, IA; a brother, Richard and his wife Donna of Breda, IA; father-in-law, Lester Popp and his wife Gloria of Westside, IA; brothers and sisters-in-law: Quentin and Brenda Hartman of Alpena, MI, Steve and Lorene Blazek of Rockwell City, IA, and Brian and Terry Popp of Omaha, NE; and many other relatives and friends. A Christian burial is granted this day, Friday, April 30, 2004, 10:30 a.m., at Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake, IA, until the resurrection of the body at the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Reverend Roger Carlisle will officiate. The Peace Lutheran Church Choir will provide special music accompanied by Jan Potthoff on the keyboard, and Carol Nuetzman, organist. Pallbearers include Scott Brotherson, Travis Brotherson, Josh Blazek, Dean Wordekemper, Dale Lenz, and Gary Lenz. Interment will be made at the Westside Cemetery under the direction of Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Wall Lake. Friends who wish to send condolences may do so online. Visitation is Thursday, April 29th, from 4:00 – 8:00 pm, at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Wall Lake. |
