Bernice Robinson
Bernice was united in marriage to Walter Quandt in Magnolia, Iowa, on October 18, 1935. They lived in the Denison area until he passed away in 1951. On January 10, 1954, Bernice and Cleo Robinson were married at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Bernice worked as a salesperson at the J.C. Penny’s Store in Denison and later worked as a crossing guard in California, until she retired 23 years ago. She and Cleo were very involved with in A.A. and AL-ANON meetings. She enjoyed crocheting, playing cards with her friends and family, camping, and dancing. She especially loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. Survivors include her sons: Wayne Quandt and his wife Linda of Kingsville, TX, Veryl Dean Robinson and his wife Cheri of Rockvale, TN, and Kenneth Robinson and his wife Mary Ann of Junction City, CA; her daughters, Bernadeen Steinkamp of Wall Lake, and Colleen Nissen and her husband Glenn also of Wall Lake; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a sister Opal Hansen of Denison, Iowa; extended family members and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Walter in 1951; husband Cleo in 2003; a daughter Adaleen; two brothers, Wayne and DeOrr; four sisters: Ruby, Mildred, Myrtle, and Benjie; and a son-in-law, Paul Steinkamp. Funeral services for Bernice are Wednesday, May 19, 2004, 11:00 a.m., at Lakes United Methodist Church in Lake View, Iowa, with Reverend Rick Johnson officiating, and Marilyn Hundling, organist. Bernice’s granddaughters will be the honorary pallbearers and the pallbearers will be the following: Terry Steinkamp, Steven Nissen, Jim Steinkamp, Danny Robinson, Todd Steinkamp, Wayne Nissen, John Robinson, and Patrick Anderson. Burial will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Denison at 2:00 p.m. under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home. Visitation is Tuesday, May 18th, 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Wall Lake. |
