Richard Glenn Zimmer, age 64, of Early, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2003, at Loring Hospital in Sac City. Rich was born on January 3, 1939, in Early, Iowa, the son of Glenn and Genevieve (Cloud) Zimmer. Rich was baptized and confirmed at Early United Methodist Church and graduated from Early High School in 1957. On August 8, 1959, Rich was united in marriage to Dolores Marie Faber at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Early, where he became a member. They were blessed with four sons: Michael, Roger, Boyd, and Patrick, and three daughters: Kathleen, Leanne and Sharon. Rich worked for the Curry & Thompson Seed Company as a seed salesman. He was well liked and loved to talk to people as he made his coffee stops. He was “best friends” with everyone he met and loved his “Curry & Thompson Family”. Especially he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, attending all their sporting events, and grilling up something special on his grill. Rich was an avid Hawkeye fan and on game day the remote was always at his side. You could find him relaxing out in his screened in porch, or being at his shop. His hobbies included coin collecting (especially gold coins), bowling, and collecting miniature cars. Rich is survived by his wife Dolores; his sons: Michael (Vickie) Zimmer of Fort Dodge, IA, Roger (Trina) Zimmer of Ogden, IA, Boyd Zimmer and his fiancée Roxanna of Newell, IA, and Patrick (Brenda) Zimmer of Early, IA; his daughters: Kathleen (Dale) Grundmeier of New Sharon, IA, Leanne (Mike) West of Remsen, IA, and Sharon Benna of Early; 28 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and many friends. His parents and a grandson Thomas Zimmer preceded him in death. |
