Robert L. Hoxie

Service for Robert L. Hoxie is Tuesday, November 11, 2003, 2:00 p.m., at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City, with Reverend Donald Gibson officiating, music provided by Phyllis Pontious, organist. Pallbearers included: Kim Hoxie Huss, Mike Bernard, Jim Huss, Earl Zimmerman, Rob Stoltz, and Don Struchen. Burial will be at the Early Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City Monday, November 10, 2003, 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., family will be present from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Robert L. Hoxie, age 76, of Early, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2003, at Park View Care Center, in Sac City.

Robert was born on June 25, 1927, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Roy and Mildred (Cronk) Hoxie. He grew up in Early and graduated from Early High School in 1945. On August 13, 1950, he was united in marriage to Nedra Rodgers at Auburn, Iowa. They moved to Early in 1954. From 1951 to 1953 Robert served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army.

He worked at the Iowa Automatic Gas Company from 1950-89 and for Farm Service from 1989-92 when he retired. Robert was a long time member of the Early Fire Department from 1955-85. His hobbies included reading, watching sports, golfing and bowling.

Survivors include his wife Nedra; their two daughters: Kim Hoxie Huss and her husband Jim of Spencer, IA, and Becky Stoltz of Minneapolis, MN; four grandchildren: Rob Stoltz and his wife Kyla of Kansas City, MO, Lisa Nutter and her husband Terry of Farmington, MN, Mike Bernard of Council Bluffs, IA, and Stacey Casey and her husband Sean of Sioux Rapids, IA; two great-granddaughters: Katelyn Nutter and McKenna Stoltz; a sister Mildred Holdgrafer of Salix, IA; mother-in-law Freda Rodgers of Sac City; two sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his mother Mildred Wiseman; father Roy Hoxie; and sister Dorothy Manning.
