John F. Langbein Memorial services for John F. Langbein is Thursday, October 23, 2003, 11:00 am, at Farber & Otteman Funeral Home, Lake View, Iowa, with Reverend Duane O’Tool officiating. Honorary pallbearers include: Harry LaVern Langbein, Donald Langbein, Pat Wendell, Bill Griffin, Gary Reynolds, Charles Schwanz, and Merlin Ziegmann. Burial will be at the Wall Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the memorial service. John F. Langbein, age 66, of Fort
Dodge, Iowa, formerly of Lake View, passed away on Sunday, October
19, 2003, at Friendship Haven, Tompkins Center at Fort Dodge. John and Karen Smith were united in marriage in Sac City on June 24, 1961. They lived in the Lake View area. To this union three daughters were born: Debra, Diana and Denise. John worked in construction, working for Griffin Construction in Lake View and then on his own. In the mid 80’s he moved to Fort Dodge, retiring in 1994 for health reasons. John loved to spend time with his family, children, and grandchildren. He enjoyed sports and liked to watch the Hawks and Cubs play. Survivors include his children: Debra Berry and fiancée Allen Patterson of Des Moines, IA, Diana O’Brien and fiancée Jim McCool of Fort Dodge, IA, Denise Kempf and husband Steve Giuliano of Aurora, CO; six grandchildren: Jessica (Eric) Stockman, Lindy Beyerink, Zachary, Baileigh, and Tristan O’Brien, and Christopher Kempf; two brothers: Donald (Jackie) Langbein of Des Moines, IA, Harry LaVern (Fern) Langbein of Carroll, IA; two sisters: Thelma Hubbard of Winterset, IA, Margo (Tom) Wald of Goldfield, IA; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Dorothy Bowman, and Louise O’Tool, and a brother-in-law Virgil Hubbard. |
