Howard I. Heun

Visitation for Howard Heun will be Tuesday, September 16, 4:00-8:00 pm, at Farber & Otteman Funeral Home, Sac City. Interment will be at St. James Catholic Cemetery, Clare, Iowa, at a later date.

Howard I. Heun, age 73, of Sac City, Iowa, died on September 12, 2003, at his home in Sac City.

Howard was born on April 5, 1930, at Clare, Iowa, the son of Norbert and Frances (Fox) Heun. He was baptized in the Catholic Church at Clare and grew up in the Humboldt and Dakota City area. He attended Clare School. Howard served in the US Army from January 1952-1954, serving in the Korean conflict.

On September 9, 1960, Howard and Nancy McKinney were united in marriage at Jackson, MN. They had five children: Dennis, Craig, Randy, RaNay, and Rodney.

Howard worked in the excavation business in the Sac City area and was semi-retired. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a lifetime member of the veterans organization.

He is survived by his wife Nancy; two sons: Randy Heun of Colorado Springs, CO and Dennis Heun and his wife Francine of Henderson, NV; a daughter RaNay Freese of Wall Lake, IA; 7 grandchildren: Aaron Ausborn, Angie and Jessica Evers, Nicholas and Nathan Heun, and Caleb and Cody Heun; 10 great-grandchildren: Brandon, Faith, and Aaron Jr. Ausborn, Scott and R.J. Freese, Jenna and Joedon Evers, and Jenae, Nathan Jr., and Logan Heun; a brother Leonard (Ione) Heun of Lake View, IA; 4 sisters: Mary (Jack) Baumic of Grimes, IA, Kate Marcelius of Humboldt, IA, Marge Fultcher of Morgan Hill, CA, and Eleanor (Earl) Bartan of Livermore, IA., and extended family.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents; two sons: Craig and Rodney; brothers: Emmett, Ray, Joe, Jim, and Don; and sisters: Irene and Loretta Heun.
