Errol Scriver

Errol Franklin Scriver, age 94, of Sac City, Iowa, formerly of Santa Cruz, CA, passed away December 28, 2003, at Loring Care Center in Sac City.

Errol was born in Chester, SD, March 9, 1909, to Ellis and Laura (Laere) Scriver. He was raised on a farm and attended Colman High School. The Scriver family moved to Santa Cruz, California in 1928. As a young adult he drove truck, hauling fresh produce and cement.

On July 2, 1938, he was united in marriage to Ann Larson in Santa Cruz, CA. Errol served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed in Camp Roberts, CA and Fort Benning, GA. He was an Automotive Mechanic Instructor at Fort Benning.

After the war Errol and his brother, Norris, bought a commercial boat and fished for several years. He then did transporting for the gas company until his retirement in 1980.

Errol loved music and spent many relaxing hours playing the violin, piano, and organ. As a hobby he was a piano tuner.

After retiring Ann and Errol spent their time gardening, traveling and spending time with friends and family.

In October 2002 they moved to the Loring Care Center in Sac City, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife Ann Scriver; four sisters-in-law: Pauline Acronico, Betty Stepanek, Doris Larson, and Jane Larson; long time friend Dr. Bernard Karleen; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Laura and Ellis Scriver; four brothers: Ellery, Lyle, Norris, and Myron.

Prayer service is Tuesday, December 30th at 1:00 pm at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City, with Pastor Wayne Pfannkuch officiating. Burial will be at Santa Cruz Memorial Park, in Santa Cruz, California.
