Anna Helen Roling A funeral mass will be held for Anna Roling, age 91, of Early, on Saturday, September 13, 2003, 10:30 am, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Early, Ia, with Father Patrick O’Kane officiating along with Deacon Dennis Luft. The Sacred Heart Choir along with Bernadine Pickhinke, organist, will provide the music. Pallbearers include: Michael Roling, Patrick Luft, Peter Wilcox, Kevin Luft, Joseph Roling, and Jerry Mueller. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Early, IA. Visitation is after 3:00 pm, Friday, Sept. 12 at Farber & Otteman Funeral Home, Sac City. Anna Helen Roling, age 91, of Early, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2003, at Loring Hospital, Sac City, Iowa. Anna was born in Dunlap, Iowa, on May 5, 1912, the daughter of James and Jesse (Jamesiah Kennedy) Nelis. She grew up in Vail, Iowa, where she was baptized and confirmed at the Catholic Church and attended St. Anne’s Catholic School. On July 30, 1935, Anna was united in marriage to Leo J. Roling. They were the parents of five children: Joan, Bill, Jim, Mary Kay, and John. They lived in Vail until moving to Early in the early 1940’s. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Early. Anna was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family and enjoyed growing indoor plants. She is survived by her daughter Joan Nath of Marion, IA, two sons: Jim Roling and his wife Sheryl of Spencer, IA, and John Roling of Madison, WI; son-in-law Jerry Mueller of Phoenix, AZ; daughter-in-law Marlene Roling of Minneapolis, MN; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; three sisters-in-law: Alice Roling and Irene Roling Bathurst both of Early and Cecilia Nelis of Oklahoma City, OK; and extended family. Anna was preceded in death by her parents; husband Leo on March 4, 1996; son William; daughter Mary Kay Mueller; a brother Jack Nelis; and a sister Margarite Luft. |
